The Fete de Bigerade in La Caunette is a festival of plants & trees of the Mediterranean including a celebration of all things citrus. It takes place on the last weekend of February each year and hundreds of folk turn up to buy plants and seedlings. This part of the Minervois fosters its own micro climate and the availability of Seville oranges attracts the marmalade makers. The Brotherhood of the Bigerade from towns in the area, including nearby Minerve, are apparent in their distinctive apparel. Bigerade, from which the fete takes its name, is a biscuit, similar to the oriette, but peculiar to this small Minervois district.
