Walking in the Corbières

Walkers arriving on the cliff "Headland" of Leucate having followed footpaths from Leucate village across the Plateau. At one time up to 6000 sheep grazed on this Plateau and there were no vines planted. Now there are no sheep but a few vineyards. The Plateau is a "Site Inscrit" or a site of Special Scientfic Interest. There is an estimated 580 plants within the Commune of Leucate some of them rare . It is also a place to see migrating birds in the Spring and now in the Autumn.
