Castelnou – one of the 149 Plus Beaux Villages de France - is 20 km south-west of Perpignan in the foothills of the Pyrénées, below Mount Canigou. The village is dominated by the 10’th Century Castle. The castle fell into ruins but was restored in the 19’th century and is now owned by a society dedicated to its preservation.
