"la Méridienne" - the A75 - the "Viaduct de Millau", which takes the road over the River Tarn - heading on to the Larzac Plain - then on into the Hérault Departement.
It was a Knights Templar "relais" on the main route South through the Massif Centrale Mountains, one of the routes for the Crusaders on their way to Jerusalem. The departure point being the Port of Aiges Mortes. During the 12th Century they were the bankers for Pilgrims to the Holy Land, who would carry "letters of credit" to be exchanged.
