Gypsum moulding in a room in the Château at Cascastel in the Corbières. Unfortunately there is no money available for the restoration of the moulding which dates from the 17th early 18th century, it is on all the walls and roccoco in style. The architect overseeing the renovations says that this kind of decoration, although common further north in France, was hardly known in the Midi so that this room in the Château is unique. The gypsum might well have come from the mines at Portel des Corbières
