The five-meter high statue of Honore de Balzac, the 19th Century French Novelist - situated in the centre of Agde
Created by sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, head of the Russian Academy of Arts and Russia's most well known living artist. The imposing bronze monument, which was made in St. Petersburg's Monumentsculptura foundry, depicts Balzac on a throne, surrounded by 40 characters from his novels against a background of famous French landmarks and cities with a Balzac connection.
