The Church of St Jacques in Béziers

The Church of St Jacques, the oldest in Béziers - dating back to the 9th/10th Century - the earliest part being "Romanesque"

The Scallop Shell (Coquilles Saint-Jacques) is the symbol of Saint Jacques

....and a little group that very few people see ! At the top of one of the pillars. Partially destroyed during the remodeling of the Church during the mid-nineteenth century, when a false ceiling and much plasterwork was added. This was later destoyed, in it's turn, during the 1960's by a major fire.
