Béziers - Son et Lumière - 2017

The History of Béziers portrayed on the facade of the Theatre on the Allées Paul Riquet.

During the mid 19th Century, Napoleon III came to power by holding a coup d'état in 1851and declared himself Emperor.

On the third of December 1851 the army fired upon the Republican Demonstrators in Béziers, who, encouraged by the Mayor, Casimir Peret, were against the coup d'État.

The supression of this movement resulted in certain persons being condemmed to death and others deported to French Guiana.

Casimir Peret, who had been relegated to Cayenne, perished at sea during an escape attempt from that isle. ”

This was the last revolution in France.
