This saint is considered to be the first bishop of Béziers - Around the year 250, Aphrodise, escaping from the Roman persecution against Christians, left Heliopolis (Egypt) and arrived in Béziers on his camel - He died beheaded in the Place Saint-Cyr and his head was thrown inside a well. Suddenly the well's water began to rise pushing the head back up again. The Saint took it in his hands and there began the legend; which is now continued as the Fête de Saint Aphrodise on the 29th of April each year
