Literacy in National Front supporters.

Today in France is the first round for the election of a new President/ Emperor/ Führer (whatever) and all around are amateur efforts at the promotion of the various parties involved. This crude misspelt sign at the entrance to the beach at Vendres should read "Interdite aux Arabes - Vite Le Pen" casts doubts on the literacy level of the presumed "Fronte Nationale" follower of the Le Pen family. It reminds me of an equally poorly written message in a public toilet in Market Harborough, England that I saw in the early 1970s : "Is it tru that whancking macks yu go deff?" (Obviously a person who believed that the "c" & the "k" are as inseparable as the "q" & the "u".) I regret to admit that I carefully pencilled in underneath the reply "No but it plays havoc with your spelling"
